Sports Injury management
If you have a sports injury and are unsure as to whether a massage can help, we will ask you some questions about the nature of the injury, timing & severity to establish if massage would be suitable.
This depends on which phase of repair the tissues are in and the severity of the injury. If we can’t help you then we may be able to refer you to someone else.
Techniques
Deep tissue massage, Joint mobilisation, Myofascial release, Muscle energy technique (MET) Neuromuscular technique (NMT) or Trigger point therapy. (STR) Soft tissue release.
Pre & post event
Sports injury management – Working with the phases of repair for sports injury management. Timing is crucial to delivering effective sports therapy with lasting results. Helping scar tissue to reform and repair.
Pre event sports massage helps to warm up muscles and improves blood circulation and prepares muscles for action. For post event sports massages, breaking down areas of lactic acid which builds up in muscle tissue causing pain and tension.
Treatment Plan & Consultation
10 – 15 Minutes
For the initial consultation we would need extra time and will run through your medical history and a postural assessment (if necessary). We will then create a treatment plan for the first session and set clear treatment goals which are measurable and achievable.
Exercises & ongoing treatment
Aftercare advice may include strengthening exercises to build muscle or stretches to lengthen tight muscles. Both help with postural imbalances, improving performance and are an integral part of sports injury recovery. We may recommend other local groups, services and facilities available in the local area.
Post Event massage
For post event sports massages, the purpose of the treatment is to help muscles to recover.
