Sports Massage Therapy

You don’t have to be an athlete to see a Sports massage therapist. If you have muscle fatigue, aches and pains from chronic muscle tension then you could benefit from sports massage therapy.

If you are looking for a particular type of sport massage therapy please see our Pembrokeshire massage for active people page where you will find treatments designed specifically for pre and post sports massage in Pembrokeshire.

What will the session include?

Sports massage uses a wide range of advanced techniques to improve performance, muscle function and joint mobility.

  • It is usually advised to have a number of sessions to see progress over time especially in the case of injury management & recovery.
  • We will start with a consultation to get an idea of what your goals are and what you would like to achieve from having the sessions.
  • A postural assessment can help to decide on what is the best course of treatment for you at that time.
  • We may look at things such as position of feet when standing (gait) and position of pelvis, knees or shoulders. These sessions take place in Haverfordwest and Narberth.

Post Event massage

For post event sports massages, the purpose of the treatment is to help muscles to recover. Massage helps by breaking down areas of lactic acid which builds up in muscle tissue causing pain and tension. Working with the lymphatic and circulatory systems to help flush muscles through. Improving mobility and muscle function.

Pre event massage

Sports injury management – Working with the phases of repair for sports injury management. Timing is crucial to delivering effective sports therapy with lasting results. Helping scar tissue to reform and repair. Pre event sports massage helps to warm up muscles and improves blood circulation and prepares muscles for action.
